Consumer Intention to Participate in E-Waste Collection Programs: A Study of Smartphone Waste in Indonesia

Indonesia is a developing country with low-level e-waste management system based on limited number of informal initiatives. E-waste requires proper procedures, which involve the design reverse logistics network. Consumers play critical role in such network, because network runs when they willingly participate as suppliers waste. This paper applies Theory Planned Behavior framework and extends it using Reverse Logistics drivers, Value Belief Norm Theory, facility accessibility to explain consumer intention collection programs. A survey was conducted smartphone users Indonesia, total 324 valid questionnaires. The results showed that government accessibility, personal attitudes significantly influence intentions. Environmental concern has positive intentions through variables perceived behavioral control drivers. study shows need for integration, reinforce each other. However, neither economic drivers nor subjective norms finding distinguishes from other countries, especially developed programs have not become part culture Indonesia. For this reason, needs regulations, most influential variable, regulate implementation program.
